What makes me tick.

Long story made short, I grew up in a small town in New Zealand, so it was only natural that I spent a large part of my time outdoors… usually chasing fish or a ball of some description. I‘d give anything a go, but alas, with age and a much slower recovery time, I’ve persisted with the more low key codes such as golf, cycling and tennis. Exercise is still something I use to recharge my batteries though, and you’ll often find me yelling at the TV (much to my wife’s dismay) when the All Blacks or Liverpool are playing.

Like my affection for all things “sport”, I’ve always had a love for creativity and design, no matter which form it comes in – architecture, advertising, product design, packaging, cooking, you name it. It’s been a constant in my life and that won’t change anytime soon.

It all begins with an idea.

For almost 20 years I’ve worked in agencies large and small, in New Zealand, Australia, and the UK. A lot has changed in that time with ever evolving technologies (I definitely don’t miss dial up), delivery channels and the devices on which we consume content.

I’d like to think one thing hasn’t changed though, and that’s how brilliant and exciting a good idea can be. It can change minds, do good, make someone smile or shed a tear, live online, offline, above the line, below the line and through the line. The idea of a ‘good idea’… it still brings a smile to my face.
